If you ever have the opportunity to visit Moscow don’t be fooled by its bland look. On her surface, Moscow is a very monotonous city with similar architecture throughout. If you look deeper, you will see great art in unexpected places.
Back in 2007 a festival was held with the title Paint Moscow. It called artists from around Russia to come to Moscow and pain the side of buildings. The artists did a very good job painting a variety of abstract graffiti. Originally each mural had a plaque with the names of artists involved in the graffiti. Over time, these plaques have either fallen off or were vandalized so now not many plaques remain.
These photos were taken in one region of Moscow, about a 15 minute walk from the Babushkina metro. Some of these murals can be seen from the road but most lay hidden within the neighborhood.
