I just watched Avatar for the second time this weekend and loved it. The 3D experience is stunning, the storyline is great making the movie entertaining time and time again. The subtle similarities to western domination of 3rd world countries also makes the story all the more gripping.
Not surprisingly, Avatar is poised to be a record breaking movie, at least with respect to sales.
James Cameron’s science-fiction epic "Avatar" had another stellar weekend with $68.3 million domestically, shooting past $1 billion worldwide, only the fifth movie ever to hit that mark.
No. 1 for the third-straight weekend, 20th Century Fox’s "Avatar" raised its domestic total to $352.1 million after just 17 days. The film added $133 million overseas to lift its international haul to $670 million, for a worldwide gross of $1.02 billion.
I am sure the MPAA are proud of themselves … 3 weeks, $1 Billion. It is a shame that piracy is so rampant. Who knows, maybe they would have $1.1 Billion by them, we all know they could use the extra money. The hungry children of the MPAA executives should start a charity drive, maybe we can send them some extra Christmas Presents next year, or possibly a canned food drive.
So kiddies, remember … piracy is bad. Don’t pirate. Try to purchase everything legally and God forbid you steal a piece of bread from those poor children.
